"hide k 1896®,"an eco-friendly product brand
An eco-friendly brand with roots in a hemp wholesaler founded in 1896
Founded in 2013 by Hideyuki Kasuga (Ph.D. in Engineering), the eco-friendly product brand “hide k 1896®” traces its origins to the family business “Kasuga Shoten,” a hemp wholesaler established in 1896 under the philosophy that “what is made by human hands should be returned to nature by human hands.” The brand develops a wide range of lifestyle products—including tableware, fashion, and furniture—based on “TRANSWOOD®,” an eco-friendly composite material formulated and designed in-house,“COMPOSITE TEXTILE,” to develop a wide range of lifestyle products, including tableware, fashion, and furniture.

TRANSWOOD® with Prasus® Exhibition - The Future of Environmentally Friendly Materials - (Co-hosted by hide k 1896 | Mitsui Chemicals)
TRANSWOOD® is an eco-friendly material brand developed by Hideyuki Kasuga (Ph.D. in Engineering) based on the concept of a “material that lasts 100 years.”The composite material [TRANSWOOD® with Prasus®], which combines “wood-derived materials” such as wood flour from thinned timber and CMF (cellulose microfiber) with the mass-balanced biomass resin [Prasus®] made from waste cooking oil and other sources, reduces CO2 emissions and plastic usage during the manufacturing process and is a fully recyclable, all-bio-based material.
At this exhibition, we will showcase the “future of eco-friendly materials” embodied by [TRANSWOOD® with Prasus®].
